Mama de Mayo

In a few weeks I will be joining a crack team of ladies for Mama Knows Best – a tribute to mothers. I’m excited and want to extend the invitation to you if you are in a 40 mile radius of Dixon IL. Without revealing too much, I know the music will be top notch, along with comedy, and Christian based insight on Mothers. I promise you will be entertained and inspired. Catering by Hector’s Cocina. See the attached for details on time, place, and tickets.

Circumstantial Clutter

  1. Careful that the circumstances that happen in life don’t take your eyes off of God.

Be diligent in seeking him, honoring him, and worshiping him.

When circumstances are clutter around your feet, its easy to look down. My friend, glance down momentarily, but keep looking upward. Your focus is our savior. When your circumstances are large and overwhelming, call on your prayer warriors. We are not meant to navigate the circumstances of life alone.

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16‭-‬18 NLT

Be a blessing.

Daily lessons from unexpected moments

We should always be delighted in new things that God reveals, both in his written word as well as in our surroundings.

Today I served in our church’s nursery and spent a good portion of my time with a sweet four year old boy with special needs. Today he wanted to color. The process included handing me markers, yelling the color, and then dictating parts of the picture to color. It was just simple one-word commands but it made him happy, so I was fine with it.

After we finished the first picture, he turned the page and started reading what was on the next page. Let me repeat – four years old. He wasn’t reading words like dog or cat. He was reading two and three syllable words. I AMAZED and excited for him and by him. It was a heartfelt moment of pure joy on my part. I was also reminded that I don’t understand everything but God does (I knew that but it’s good to be reminded). The limitations that I anticipated were not there in this sweet boy. His limitations are defined by God and not by me.

I just needed to spend the right moment with him to be the student and not the teacher.

Take time to be delighted, surprised, and awe-struck in people, nature, art, music or wherever else your heart roams.

Job 12:7-10 NIV

7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.
9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.

Be kind to one another and be a blessing.  Thank you for your time.

I Peter 5:6

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
1 Peter 5:6 NLT

In a day and age when we are so busy exalting ourselves, building pride in our efforts, we are forgetting that there is a power higher than anything we can imagine, our creator and God. There is nothing wrong with having pride as long as it’s the right kind and never comes between us and understanding our God. In that comes the understanding of how great he is and how small we are.

Be a blessing to someone today.
