Cold shoulders

I love the NLT version of this scripture. It’s simple and straight-forward. Notice the scripture says to hate what is wrong; it does not say hate those that do wrong. It’s a simple concept that Christians struggle with regularly. We are too busy trying to fix non-Christians/new Christians instead of letting our life be a loving example. When someone doesn’t live up to our Christian expectations, we offer them a serving of cold shoulder. Maybe we need to quit having cold shoulders to pass out to others.

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. (NLT)

I’ve only touched on the first part of this scripture, but it’s a concept that is tough to implement, so it’s good to focus on real, unconditional love. Think on all your relationships and ask the Lord to show you if you need to build a deeper level of love in any of those relationships.

Go and be a blessing to those you encounter.
